Let's practice Radical Self Love!
"Light skin is the right skin." I mean if Consequence said it then by gods we should all be light skinned. I don't think anyone wants to have the wrong shade of black, although who ever said light skin was the right skin, other than rappers and the media of course. Bleaching, whitening, lightening. Whatever you want to call it, it's all the same. During my childhood, I played with white Barbie dolls. We were all exposed to the Euro centric standards of beauty from a young age. I never liked my hair curly or braided, I wanted my hair straightened all the time if I could. Now that I'm older I love my natural fro but I remember always wanting to perm my hair, keep in mind my hair is naturally soft so I probably looked like a wet cat with that perm on, never the less I still wanted it because that's what all the blonde's with straight hair and blue eyes on TV looked like. Despite all this I don't remember EVER hating my skin colour. My skin tone is and always has been beautiful. I get it we were all exposed to Euro centric standards but bleaching is a much more drastic measure to change ones appearance no?
I think due to a dominant white media, a lot of black people are brainwashed into thinking that looking white is the standard of beauty. They all want to be like Nicki Minaj but end up looking like Vybz Kartel. "It's Barbie B*****", no it's really not. These singers got young kids thinking they have to be bleached up in order to be beautiful. You should be confident in who you are (colour and all). It's considered that way within the black community, because the message you're sending out is, "I rather be white." How are you going to look fair skinned with brown eyes today, then look like you've been rolling around in white flour and suddenly have blue eyes tomorrow? It just doesn't work!
Yes you might have your own preferences but people of all races should love their skin, that's all! Spartans love yourself radically and just be you!
Beauty comes in all shades, both dark and white. Even men who like light-skinned women prefer a natural light-skinned woman, not a bleached product. If a man does not like your natural complexion, then that man is not meant for you. What if you bleach your skin white then you find the man of your dreams who prefers your skin darker? You cannot damage your skin to please men, because they're just glorified baboons with two heads, one of those smarter than the other. My point is there's plenty of those in the jungle. Bleaching your skin makes you look ugly. Yes! I said it. There is nothing more unattractive than having uneven skin tone as a result of bleaching. Being natural means something exists as nature made it. unfortunately, bleaching your skin obliterates all these characteristics. Bleaching means you are no longer a pure woman because you have diluted your skin tone. You are no longer natural because you no longer exist as God made you. I mean why can't we all just be happy with the way God created us? Rock that dark sexy chocolate tone honey child. They say the darker the berry, the sweeter the juice.
